The Gyanvapi Mosque management committee has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the survey. The management said that the survey conducted in the area of Gyanvapi Mosque violated the provisions of the Place of Worship Act, 1991. On the other hand, the Hindu Sena had filed an interlocutory petition in the case seeking dismissal of the petition of the Mosque management committee. The Court had refused to adjourn the hearing in the Civil Court in connection with the survey. The Court had directed the District Collector to protect the Shivlinga area found during the survey.
