All pilgrims to undergo verification for Chardham Yatra

Uttarakhand Government’s decision based on Saints’ demand for a complete ban on non-Hindus in Chardham Yatra

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) – Every pilgrim visiting Chardham will be screened, announced CM Pushkar Singh Dhami. Everyone who comes for this yatra will be closely monitored, he said. A few days ago, the Saints had demanded that non-Hindus should be banned from the Chardham Yatra. It was also demanded that non-Hindus coming to the State should be given an identity card to identify themselves. This decision has been taken after that. The Chardham Yatra will start on 3rd May.

CM Dhami said that our State should remain peaceful. Our religion and culture must be preserved. Hence, everyone coming for the yatra will be verified at the Government level by the administration. We are trying to ensure that the situation in the State is not aggravated by any person from outside.

Editorial Comment

Congratulations Uttarakhand Government for respecting the Saints and taking the decision as per the Saints’ guidance. Jihadi terrorists conspire to target Hindu pilgrimages. Considering this, Hindus expect the Government to be proactive and take steps to ensure that anti-social elements do not engage in anti-social activities while mingling with the pilgrims.
