Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath orders tax exemption to Temples, Monasteries, Dharamshalas, etc in Ayodhya

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath

Ayodhya (UP) – CM Adityanath instructed the Municipal Corporation not to levy commercial rates on monasteries, temples, Dharamshalas, and charitable organisations. Yogi Adityanath, after being sworn in as Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister for the second time, visited Ayodhya for the first time after being re-elected. Since Ayodhya Municipal Corporation has come into being, it has levied taxes at the commercial rate on temples and holy shrines, and monasteries. This was a huge sum that was collected from the Holy shrines and religious institutions of Ayodhya. The persons in charge of the monastery and temple had requested several times that the tax at the commercial rate be abolished.  Hence, this decision was taken now.

This will be the first Ramnavmi to be celebrated in Ayodhya after the laying of the foundation stone for the Ram Mandir in August 2020. Keeping this in mind, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath advised that the celebrations be grand and memorable. He also went through the preparations for the upcoming Ram Navami Mela in the holy city, with the officers to decide what and how should it be celebrated.
