Shirdi (Maharashtra) – The organisation of temple trustees, priests, devotees etc. is necessary in order to address the issues faced by temples, provide facilities for devotees, manage queues efficiently, and preserve temple traditions.Owing to this, the Maharashtra Temple Federation, in collaboration with the Shree Jivdani Devi Sansthan, Shri Jyotirlinga BhimashankarDevasthan, Shri Sai Palki Niwara, and the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, has organised the third ‘Maharashtra Mandir Nyas Parishad’ on December 24th and 25th at Shri Sai Palki Niwara, Nagar-Manmad Road, Nimgaon, Shirdi.Over 1,000 invited trustees, representatives, priests, lawyers fighting for the protection of temples, and researchers from across Maharashtra are expected to attend, Mr Sunil Ghanwat, the National Organising Secretary of the Temple Federation, said at a press conference on 21stDecember.

The two-day conference will bring together over 1,000 temple trustees, archakas, advocates, and researchers to discuss pressing issues affecting temples, including:

Present at the press conference were Major (Retd) Kisan Gangurde, Chairman of Shri Vaijnath Mahadev Devasthan Trust, Malegaon; Mr Dinesh Muthe, Owner of Nashik’s Gore Ram Temple; and Mr Pradeep Deshmukh, Coordinator of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

Temple Federation’s work is growing gradually : Sunil Ghanwat, National Organising Secretary, Temple Federation
Mr Sunil Ghanwat further said, ‘The first Maharashtra Mandir Nyas Parishad was held in Jalgaon in February 2023, where the Maharashtra Temple Federation was established. The second conference was held in Ozar, Pune. Since then, the Federation’s work has steadily increased, reaching all corners of the State within two years. Dress code has been implemented in more than 800 temples in the State through the Maharashtra Temple Federation, while more than 15,000 temples nationwide have been organised’.

Mr Dinesh Muthe, owner of the Gore Ram Temple, said, ‘The conference will see participation from prominent figures such as Vishnu Shankar Jain, spokesperson for Hindu Front for Justice and Supreme Court advocate; Mr Ranjit Savarkar, Chairman of the Swatantryaveer National Memorial; Mr Prasad Kathe, Editor of Marathi news channel Jay Maharashtra; Mr Girish Shah of the Jain Temple; Dr. Amit Thadani, an expert working in the temple sector; writer and researcher Mr Sandeep Singh; Mr Ritwik Aurangabadkar from the Banganga Trust; trustees of Ashtavinayak temples and Jyotirlinga temples in Maharashtra, representatives of Saint Peeths, and other temple trustees. National spokesperson of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Mr Ramesh Shinde, will also participate’.
At the conference, there will be sessions where dignitaries will provide guidance and discussions on various temple-related topics will be held. These include ‘Making temples centres for the promotion of Sanatan Dharma’, ‘Freeing temples from Government control’, ‘Grabbing of temple lands through the Waqf Act’, ‘Prohibition of alcohol and meat in temple and pilgrimage sites’, and ‘Restoration of neglected temples’.The conference is exclusively for invited participants, and those wishing to attend can contact the Temple Federation at the number 7020383264.
