Kyiv (Ukraine) – Maria Mezentseva, a woman MP, told in a news interview that during the invasion of Ukraine, Russian troops are raping and sexually abusing women. She added, ‘We will not sit quiet but raise our voice.’ Mezentseva made the allegations about an incident in Brovary, a suburb north of Kyiv. There a woman was raped in front of her underage child. Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova said the matter was being investigated by the relevant authorities. In this case, Ukraine has issued an arrest warrant against the relevant Russian military official.

Maria Mezentseva said, ‘There are many more such incidents which have not been reported.’ Many women have been a victim of such atrocities during the war. Only one of these cases has now come to light. We think there will be many such cases.
