The US indirectly warns India
Editorial comment
India should not care about such threats from the US. The US creates a mess by interfering in the internal affairs of any country for its own benefit. The US, which can go to any extent for its own selfish interests, has no business to preach what India should and should not do ! |
Washington DC (US) – Russia has offered to supply crude oil at discounted rates to India. As a response, the United States said, ‘India would not be violating US sanctions by purchasing discounted Russian oil but added that such a move would put the world’s largest democracy on the wrong side of history. Support for Russia or Russian leadership is support for an invasion that obviously is having a devastating impact’. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki made these remarks while speaking to the media.

If India accepts Russia’s offer and buys oil, inflation is likely to ease
1. Several European countries and the US have stopped buying crude oil from Russia. Many new sanctions have been imposed on Russia. This is causing huge economic losses to Russia. In view of this, Russia has offered India to supply cheap crude oil and other things.
2. India has not yet responded to the offer, but there is talk that India will accept it. If India accepts the offer, it could be a big relief from inflation.
3. At present, the price of crude oil is so high that the prices of not only petrol and diesel but also other commodities are rising rapidly. If India gets cheaper oil, other things will get cheaper as well.
4. If India accepts this offer, it also has disadvantages. Since the US and other countries in the world have imposed sanctions on Russia, it will be very difficult for India to trade with these countries in the future if India accepts the offer.
