Sculptor in Patna makes a cricket-playing Idol of Shri Ganesh

Won National Award for making an Idol of Bal Ganesh in the dancing form

Editorial comment

  • It is shameful for Hindus that Idols of Hindu Deities are being ridiculed by Hindus themselves and they are being awarded by the Government ! It is inappropriate to humanise Deities in such a manner in the name of art or the name of freedom of expression. Such incidents are happening as Hindus lack education on Dharma. Therefore, there is no alternative to imparting education on Dharma to Hindus !

Patna (Bihar) – The sculptor Pintu Prasad, who makes Idols of Lord Ganesh in various forms, has made an Idol of cricket-playing Shri Ganesh on the occasion of this year’s Ganesh Chaturthi. The Idol, wearing a cricket jersey, shows Shri Ganpati batting, while his vehicle, the rat, is shown bowling. Earlier, Prasad had made an Idol of Shri Ganesh in the form of a dancing child. For this, a national award has been announced for him. He teaches ‘Ceramic art’ at Upendra Maharathi Shilp Sansthan. He had earlier also made an Idol of Shri Ganesh taking a selfie on a mobile phone.

Pintu Prasad said, ‘In the year 2015, I had made an Idol of Ganesh resting on the bed. I was nominated for a state award for this Idol. After that, people started asking me to make the Idols of Shri Ganesh’. So far, Pintu Prasad has made more than 100 Idols of Shri Ganesh. He has achieved a unique identity in the country due to the Idols of Shri Ganesh.
