Islamabad (Pakistan) – Hindus worshipping in the Shrikrushna temple located in Khipro from Sanghar district of Sindh Province in Pakistan were attacked and beaten up by religious fanatics. The fanatics also desecrated the Idol of Bhagavan Shrikrushna. This has led to tension in the area. Police have been deployed, but none of the accused has so far been arrested. The above information was tweeted by Rahat Austin, an activist working for the protection of the human rights of the minority population in Pakistan.

1. Photos of this vanadalisation have been published on social media. Hindu devotees are seen getting beaten up.
2. In a tweet by the Editor and journalist Vingas of ‘the Rise’ news agency, she has asked whether the accused in the case of vandalising Shrikrushna temple at Khipro would get punished.
3. In the Sindh Province of Pakistan, Hindus getting beaten up or their temples getting desecrated has become a common occurrence. At the beginning of this month, hundreds of religious fanatics had damaged the Shri Ganapati temple at Bhong which is 590 km from Lahore in Rahimyar Khan district.

4. In 2020, fanatics had damaged Shri Durga Devi’s Idol at Nagarparkar in Tharparkar district in Sindh while in September 2020, another temple was damaged in the same region in Badin district.
5. Several Hindu temples have been attacked in Pakistan during the last year including Mata Rani Bhatiyani Mandir in Sindh, Gurudwara Shri Janmasthan, and a temple at Karak in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
6. As per the report of a human rights organisation viz. ‘Movement for Solidarity and Peace’, more than 1,000 Christian and Hindu women and girls are kidnapped every year in Pakistan and later, they are converted and married to Muslims. The average age of these aggrieved women is between 12 and 25 years.

Advocate Rahat Austin, a human rights activist has said in his ‘tweet’ that punishments like mass killing or death sentence are given in cases of false accusations of criticism against Islam in Pakistan, but there is no punishment for insulting Gods worshipped by non-Muslims.
