  • Commendable action taken by Banaras Hindu University (BHU) ! Such curricula need to be introduced even by other universities in the country, which will create a righteous and virtuous new generation in its true sense.

Kashi – A syllabus on Hindu Dharma and culture is being introduced by Banaras Hindu University study centre. The students of this university will be able to study courses based on the Vedas, the Puranas, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Darshan, Architecture, folk arts, Gyan-Meemansa (Epistemology), so also, specialities of Hindu Dharma and traditions. This syllabus will be introduced in the coming academic year i.e. of 2021-22.

1. It was decided in a meeting of the learned scholars from BHU, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), IIT, Kanpur and scholars from all over the country, held at the beginning of this year, to impart knowledge of Hindu Dharma at BHU.

2. This syllabus has been introduced by ‘Bharat Adhyayan Kendra’ under the Arts faculty. Students from not only in India but also from all over the world will be taught ancient sciences of Sanatan Hindu Dharma, traditions, battle manoeuvers and strategy of war; besides ‘Dharma-Vidnyan’ and Vedic traditions, etc. The duration of the course will be two years, and 40 seats have been allocated for the same. There is a facility to send online applications till 7th September 2021 and the entrance examination will be held on 3rd October 2021.

3. An ultra-modern Cell has been set up for this course in the university; wherein along with the Gurukul education system, there will be subjects on ancient Dharma-shastra with practical perspectives and experimental aspects.

4. According to Professor Rakesh Upadhyay, who has been associated with the study committee related to this syllabus, Hindu Dharma and related sciences are defined differently by many people in India. Those historians, who have absolutely no knowledge of the Sanskrut language, are also defining Hindu Dharma, science and Sanatan traditions. Many of them are more interested in defaming Hindu Dharma than trying to learn. This syllabus has been set keeping Hindu Dharma as the focal point. Based on this, other ancient sciences, Yoga, Gyan, Army and weaponry, etc. will be taught so that such knowledge would be spread all over the world. On realising the specialities of Hindu Dharna under this syllabus, the future generation will also be proud of their own Dharma.
