Niyaz Hotel, owned by a religious fanatic in Belagavi, made an obscene parody of Hindu sadhus through advertisement

Improper use of the verse ‘Aham Brahmasmin’

After strong objections from Hindus, the Police took action and closed down the hotel branches

Editorial comments –

  • Why do religious fanatics need Hindu Saints to publicise their biryani ? Why did they not use their clergy for it ? This shows the fanaticism of the hotel owner. Those who call Hindus intolerant should respond to it !
  • If something happens against minorities, Police take action on their own but remain indifferent when religious sentiments of Hindus get hurt. Realise that action is taken by the Police only after Hindus united and registered the complaint. This situation is more prevalent all over India. Is this secularism of Police ?

Belagavi (Karnataka) – It has recently come to light that Hindu sadhus have been ridiculed for advertising the biryani of Niyaz Hotel owned by a religious fanatic here. Vishva Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, and other devout Hindu organisations strongly objected to it and submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police of Belagavi, asking for strict action against the hotel. Police have closed down various branches of the hotel in the city to prevent any untoward incidents and the Police force has been deployed outside the hotel. 1. Niaz Hotel of Belagavi has circulated posters of its non-vegetarian biryani through social media. A Hindu Saint is seen asking his devotees to give him biryani instead of ‘Balidaan’ (sacrifice). The poster also contained the caption “Guruji after tasting Niyaaz”.
  2. The caption to the post on social media said, “Our Biryani to all other Biryanis – Aham Brahmasmi (I am Brahman)”. By writing in this way, the great verse of Hindus has been mocked.
  3. The news has been published on the English website of Dainik Lokmat that the management of the Niyaz hotel has removed the posters hurting the feelings of Hindus and apologised to the Hindus. (The apology sought after hurting the feelings of Hindus has no meaning. Hindus demand action against the concerned officials of the hotel. – Editor)
