Kodagu (Karnataka) – In a letter to the CM of Karnataka and the Prime Minister, locals from here have requested the name change from ‘Rajiv Gandhi National Park’ to General Cariappa’ National Park. Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa was a resident from here. This petition was sent by Naveen Mandappa and Vinay Kayapanda and has been signed by 6,000 people. Field Marshal Cariappa was the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army. During the India-Pakistan war in 1947, he led the Army on the western forefront.
