Government files second affidavit in Supreme Court
New Delhi – Country has seen a death toll of about Rs. 4 lakh till now. The Central Government filed a second affidavit in the Supreme Court stating it cannot pay Rs. 4 lakh to Covid-19 victims’ families as the coronavirus casualty numbers are expected to rise. After the first affidavit, the Central Government was advised to file a second affidavit by the SC.

The Central Government informed that such disaster relief funds are granted through the ‘State Disaster Relief Fund’. If the States were to provide 4 lakh for every casualty, they will be out of funds. It will leave the States in a crunch to face future corona-related and other natural disasters.
135 crore doses and not 135 crore doses will be available by December 2021 – New claims by Central Government
The second affidavit filed by the Central Government states 135 crore vaccine doses will be available till 2021. This year, vaccine shortages were observed in May when the Government claimed that 216 crore doses would be available by December 2021.
