Eight institutes researched the presence of the coronavirus in the rivers and lakes. Head of Geology Department in the Gandhinagar IIT in Gujarat Manish Kumar said, “So far, we found the live coronavirus only in the sewage water. On testing the water of several rivers, we found traces of the coronavirus in it. A large number of sewage water treatment plants are on the River Sabarmati. In Guwahati, there is no plant to treat sewage water. Samples from both the rivers contained the coronavirus. This concludes that the coronavirus can live in the fresh and clean water of the river”.
