New Delhi – The newly launched drug 2-DG by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Government of India for the treatment of coronavirus is now made available for the patients. This information was given in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan. The drug has been developed by DRDO’s Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences in collaboration with the Researchers of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories of Hyderabad. This drug will be in the form of powder. This drug reduces the dependence of the patients on oxygen in the hospital.

How many doses to take ?
The dose will be available in a sachet. Just like ORS, it is mixed with water and consumed orally. This medicine is to be taken twice a day. Coronavirus patients will have to take this medicine for 5 to 7 days to recover completely. The retail price has not yet been announced. No side effects have been found.
