The law and order situation in Bengal has already deteriorated. however, it is a disgrace to see that all political parties ignored this and the central government did not promulgate President’s rule. This resulted in the killing of a Police officer.
New Delhi – Bihar’s Kishanganj Nagar Police station officer Ashwini Kumar had gone to Bengal with a Police team to nab an accused in a robbery case. At that time, a mob attacked Ashwini Kumar’s team to save the accused in Pantapada village in the Dinajpur District. Other Policemen managed to escape, while Ashwini Kumar fell into the hands of the mob. He was then brutally beaten. He was strangled to death. An inquiry into the matter has been ordered.
Bihar Director General of Police said the matter has been discussed with the Bengal Director General of Police. The latter expressed sorrow over the incident and assured the families of the martyred Police officers to help. Mrityunjay Kumar Singh, President of the Bihar Police Association, has demanded Rs. 1 crore each from the State and Central Governments for Ashwini Kumar’s family.
