Haridwar, 19 March (News) – Satpal Maharaj, the state minister for Tourism, Culture, and Irrigation emphasized that bathing in the Ganga leads to destruction of all germs and that this has been scientifically proven as well. He said that the Dev doli (a historical and ancient tradition of Uttarakhand to place the idols of the deities in palanquins) in the Kumbh Mela bathed in Ganga will ensure the welfare of entire mankind. He was speaking at a program arranged for the hoisting of the holy Dharmadhwaja of Sri Bhadrinath and Sri Hanuman in Premnagar Ashram.

He announced that the bath of the ‘Dev Doli’ will take place on 25th April in the Kumbh Mela. He assured, “Efforts are on to ensure that the entire expenditure for the Ganga snan of the dev dolis will be borne by the Government.” Mahamandaleshwar Swami Shri Harichetanand Maharaj welcomed this decision and said that with the blessings of all Deities, the Kumbh Mela will take place successfully.
