Points put forth by H.H. (Adv.) Hari Shankar Jain
1. The mosque was built to exhibit Islam’s might to Hindus
Mohammed Ghori’s slave-general Qutubuddin ordered the demolition of these 27 temples when he first set his foot in Delhi. The order was immediately implemented, and temple remains were used for building the mosque, which was named ‘Quwwat-Ul-Islam’ (Might of Islam). The construction of mosque was intended to hurt the religious sentiments of the local Hindus and Jains and to exhibit the might of Islam, rather than as a place to offer prayers.
2. The mosque is not used to offer prayers as it contains the idols and remnants of the temples!
Qutubuddin built the mosque in 1192 A.D.; however, Muslims have never offered namaz there since it was built using the columns, walls and part of ceiling of a temple which also had the idols of Hindu Deities on it. These can still be seen in the mosque.
3. Qutub Minar is in fact a Dhruva or Meru stambh!
The place referred to as Mehrauli today, was known as ‘Mihiravali’ in the past. The renowned mathematician Varahamihir, one of the nine jewels of the 4th century king Vikramaditya had established the area. An avid student of astronomy, he built the tall tower which is referred to as Qutub Minar. The tower was known as ‘Dhruva stambh’ or ‘Meru stambh’, but the Muslim invaders renamed it as Qutub Minar.
4. Archeological department has the evidence too!
The complex had 27 temples (indicative of 27 Nakshatras) including those of Jain Tirthankars, Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiv, Lord Ganesh which were demolished to build the mosque. The Archeological department survey also iterates that the mosque was built after demolishing Hindu and Jain temples.
5. Govt inaction despite being in possession of facts !
The govt. did not offer a chance to Hindus and Jains to submit their argument even after being presented with the history of the mosque. On the other hand, Muslims don’t use this mosque. Neither does the land belongs to the Waqf board, nor has anybody laid a claim on it. The place is currently under govt. control. The govt. should rebuild the temples and establish a trust for the same.
