Karnataka: Ambulance driver Jalil Baba turns out to be a drug trafficker !

Drugs worth ₹5.5 crore seized

Bagalkote (Karnataka) – MDMA narcotics worth ₹5.5 crore were seized from Jalil Baba, an ambulance driver from Beltangady. The police have registered a case against him, and he is currently absconding. Police initiated action against Jalil after uncovering a major drug trafficking network. Four persons have already been arrested in connection with the case.

The Mangaluru City Crime Branch has named Jalil Baba as an accused in an ongoing case before the Sessions Court. Cases have already been registered against Mohammed Altaf (28) of Indabettu village, Alfaz, Annappa Swamy alias Mannu, and Mohammed Mustafa (28) of Ujire.

Police first arrested Mannu, from whom they obtained crucial information about a major gang transporting narcotics from Delhi to Bengaluru. Acting on this intelligence, the police raided the Royal Inn Lodge near Hungund in Bagalkote district on 15 July and arrested three more accused.

The investigation revealed that the accused were bringing narcotics from Delhi by car and using Bengaluru as their main distribution hub to supply drugs to Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and various parts of Kerala.

To avoid attracting suspicion, Jalil Baba used his ambulance to transport the narcotics.
