Indian security agencies are viewing this statement as a possible indication of increased infiltration along the Jammu and Kashmir border. Pakistan may attempt to fuel terrorist activities in border areas to divert attention from the internal situation in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and to escalate tensions along the border. Consequently, security along the border has been further tightened.
The Indian Army has intensified search operations in sensitive areas. All security agencies have been placed on alert. The Border Security Force has launched a special anti-tunnel operation along the International Border to prevent possible infiltration through tunnels.
