Statement by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio

New Delhi – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio responded to a question asked during a press conference regarding racist remarks and discrimination against Indians in America. He said that such remarks do not represent American society as a whole. Every country has some stupid people who make objectionable comments online or in public places, but this does not define the true identity of any nation.
A joint press conference was being held along with India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar.
India’s concerns regarding Pakistan are justified because terrorist organisations active in Pakistan continue to target India
Rubio acknowledged that India’s concerns regarding Pakistan are completely justified because terrorist organisations operating from Pakistani territory have been targeting India for a long time. He further stated that India has not raised any objection or complaint regarding Pakistan’s role as a mediator or facilitator in the America-Iran conflict. He added that the dynamics between India and Pakistan are of a different nature, and Pakistan’s role in matters related to Iran has not been part of the discussions.
