White House shooter killed by security officials

Security officials claim the accused was mentally unstable

White House

Washington DC (USA) – A shooting took place on May 24 at a Secret Service checkpoint outside the White House. In the incident, a pedestrian was seriously injured. During the exchange of fire, Secret Service officers shot dead the attacker. President Donald Trump was inside the White House at the time of the shooting. The shooter has been identified as Nasire Best. Although his exact motive remains unclear, officials stated that he was mentally disturbed and had been repeatedly warned by Secret Service personnel for loitering near the checkpoint.

Investigating officers said that the accused believed he was a “modern incarnation” of Jesus Christ. Based on this, authorities suspect the attack may have been linked to his mental condition. Best had reportedly been living in Washington DC for around 18 months. In July 2025, he had a confrontation with US intelligence agency and allegedly attempted to forcibly enter the White House, following which he was arrested. After that incident, he was sent to a psychiatric unit due to mental health concerns.
