Kolkata (Bengal) – Under the leadership of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, the Bengal government has taken another significant decision by reducing the Bakrid holiday. The festival will now have only a one-day holiday, on May 28. The All India Trinamool Congress government used to grant a two-day holiday for Bakrid.

Completely refrain from sacrificing animals prohibited by law – Appeal by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind to the Muslims of West Bengal.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind president Maulana Mahmood Madani has appealed to Muslims amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Bakrid. He said that the practice of animal sacrifice is an important act of worship in Islam and that every Muslim should make an effort to offer a sacrifice.

However, he emphasized that all guidelines issued by the government and all rules laid down by the local administration must be strictly followed. He also appealed to Muslims to completely refrain from sacrificing animals prohibited by law.
