Muslim party challenges the Bhojshala verdict in the Supreme Court

Dhar (Madhya Pradesh) – In the Bhojshala case, the Muslim side has challenged the verdict delivered by the Indore Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in the Supreme Court. The Muslim party has filed a Special Leave Petition. Six days ago, the High Court had recognised the Bhojshala complex as an ancient religious site associated with the Shri Vagdevi Temple.

Abdul Samad, the ‘Sadar’ (an official responsible for overseeing religious affairs, madrasas, and waqf properties) of the Muslim community, stated that the community was disappointed with the verdict, describing it as one-sided, which is why it is being challenged. Senior advocate Salman Khurshid will seek an early hearing in the matter and request a stay on the High Court’s order. He said that certain important facts were not properly presented before the Court. Friday prayers have been offered at the Kamal Maula Mosque for nearly 700 years. The community is distressed as this tradition has been affected; however, this legal battle will be fought entirely within the constitutional and legal framework.
City Qazi (Islamic jurist and judge) Waqar Sadiq stated that the Muslim community respects the judiciary and now expects justice from the Supreme Court.
