Friendship with a country that builds fences on the border is impossible: Nahid Islam, Bangladeshi Leader

Anti-India Bangladeshi leader Nahid Islam lashes out at the West Bengal Government’s decision to transfer land to BSF for border fencing.

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – ‘The country is once again witnessing killings along the border and the construction of new barbed-wire fencing. If a country continues building fences on the border and killing citizens of another country, then friendship is impossible. True relations cannot be established while living behind barbed wires’, Nahid Islam, convener of Bangladesh’s ‘National Citizen Party’ and chief whip of the opposition in Parliament (that is, the party leader appointed by party leadership in the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, Legislative Assembly, or Legislative Council), said during a programme.

Nahid made this statement after West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, following the formation of the BJP government in state, ordered the transfer of land to the Border Security Force within 45 days for constructing barbed-wire fencing along the Bangladesh border. Nahid is considered a close associate of former interim government chief advisor Muhammad Yunus.

Nahid Islam further said,

1. If Tarique Rahman’s government fails to protect the country, then the people themselves will take responsibility for protecting the nation’s borders.

2. People (Muslims) from the neighbouring country will one day remove this fencing and establish real relations with the people of Bangladesh. (This shows how vigilant India will have to remain on the border! – Editor)

3. He also alleged that Muslims across the border are facing oppression. (If Nahid truly believes this, then he should take all the Muslims from India into his own country! – Editor)

Editorial Perspective

Bangladesh came into existence because of India, yet it remains ungrateful, carries out anti-India activities, and commits genocide against Hindus in Bangladesh. Why should even India maintain friendship with such a country?
