Den of Muslim gang accused of looting temple artifacts in Assam, raided by Police

  • Two Muslims arrested

  • Muslim women attempted to obstruct police operations

Nagaon (Assam) – Police raided a scrap warehouse in the district and uncovered the operations of a large gang allegedly involved in temple thefts. Hamid Ali and his son Azhar Uddin were said to be the main members of the gang. From their warehouse, police seized sacks containing brass bells, tridents, idols, and several other Hindu antique items allegedly looted from temples. It is believed that the seized items are worth crores of rupees in the international market.

1.  After being caught red-handed by the police, accused Hamid Ali allegedly tried to create confusion by claiming, “I run an authorized business and regularly pay GST (Goods and Services Tax).”

2.  The police firmly stated that “defiling temples and looting sacred objects can never be a legitimate business.”

3.  Preliminary investigation has revealed that this is not merely stolen property, but part of a larger organised criminal gang targeting temples.

4.   Some local women also allegedly tried to obstruct the police operation by blocking their way; however, the police ignored the resistance and carried out the seizure operation.

5.  Hamid Ali and Azhar Uddin have been arrested in connection with the case, and police are looking for other potential suspects.

6.  The operation has caused a stir in the area, and it is being speculated that several temple theft cases may now be solved.

Editorial Perspective

  • This is an example showing that descendants of Ghazni are still active in India. Strict action against such elements is necessary.
  • This is another example showing that Muslim men and women in India are ever ready to protect fanatic, riotous, terrorist, and criminal-minded Muslims.
