Blasts near Army Bases in Jalandhar and Amritsar : One Soldier Injured

Jalandhar/ Amritsar (Punjab) – Bomb blasts occurred at two places on the night of 05.05.2026 in Punjab. One blast occurred outside Indian army camp in Amritsar while the other took place outside the headquarters of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Jalandhar. One soldier of BSF has been injured in the blast. A high alert has been issued in Punjab after these blasts. The ‘Khalistan Liberation Army (KLM)’, a terrorist organisation, has claimed the responsibility for these blasts.

1. A few masked persons came on a bike, threw explosives in the direction of the wall of  Amritsar Cantonment, followed by a big blast. The Police and bomb disposal squad reached the place of incident and collected evidence from the site which has been sent for verification. The Police suspect it as a grenade attack. The Amritsar Superintendent of Police (SP) Aditya Warriar informed that investigations are going on and the kind of explosive used is being identified.

 2. According to the information shared by an eyewitness at Jalandhar, a scooter caught fire, suddenly  followed with a big blast. The sound of explosion was heard in a radius of one kilometre from the place of blast. The locals immediately informed the Police. Fire brigade vehicles reached the site and doused the fire. A person named Gurpreet Singh has been arrested by the Police in this connection. It is reported that he is the owner of the bike in which fire broke out first, followed with the blast. It is also reported that he is the distributor of ‘Flipkart’ (an online shopping company). A BSF soldier has been injured in this blast.

3. Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, Punjab BJP’s general secretary Paraminder Singh Brar and Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa have raised questions over both these incidents. BJP leader has held AAP Government responsible for these blasts, drawing attention to slackness in the Punjab security system.
