Result of Class 12 exams declines by 2.09% this year due to ‘copy-free campaign’

Overall result stands at 89.79%

Trigun Kulkarni, Chairman of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education

Mumbai – The result of the Class 12 examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education stands at 89.79% this year. Compared to last year, there has been a decline of 2.09%. The result last year was 91.88%.

State Board Chairman Trigun Kulkarni informed in a press conference that the strict implementation of the ‘copy-free campaign’ during the examinations is the primary reason for the drop in results this year.

During the examination period, 15 cases were registered and 100 staff members were suspended. Across the state, a total of 1,983 malpractice cases were reported, including 237 cases of individual copying and 1,469 cases of mass copying. CCTV cameras were installed at examination centres, which also had a positive impact. Strengthening of arrangements at centres improved transparency.

This year too, the girls topped the results!

As in previous years, girls have outperformed boys in the results. The pass percentage of girls is 93.25%, while that of boys is 86.8%. The girls’ result is higher by 6.35% compared to boys. Out of a total of 154 subjects, 26 subjects recorded a 100% result.

Editorial Perspective

The success of the ‘copy-free campaign’ should not be judged merely by the decline in results, but by how effectively it was implemented. Will the education board clarify this ? Along with this, the board should also present before the public what the expected result percentage would be if the campaign is implemented with 100% success.
