‘If India withdraws from BRICS, Pakistan is ready to enter’

  • Rumours from Pakistan and Iran-Propped Social Media Accounts

  • Ministry of External Affairs Clarifies All Claims are Baseless

New Delhi – Over the past few years, the ‘BRICS’ group, traditionally comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, has gained immense importance on a global scale. Although several other countries have joined this group, the economies of these five nations are growing at the fastest pace in the world.

Amidst this, certain Pakistan and Iran-propped ‘X’ accounts claimed that India, bowing to pressure from the United States, has decided to exit BRICS. It was also claimed that Pakistan would soon be included in the group. After this rumour was widely circulated, India’s Ministry of External Affairs rejected it, clarifying that these claims are false and baseless.

In these rumours, some accounts also claimed that India had rejected the proposal put forward by BRICS nations to use local currencies instead of the US dollar for trade transactions. Additionally, they claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance is tilted in favour of Israel.

The official ‘Fact Check’ account of the Ministry of External Affairs stated that these claims are entirely false.

Editorial Perspective

While no one is inviting Pakistan, its supporters are living in a daydream of Pakistan's inclusion in a prestigious international group like BRICS—how ridiculous!
