Pakistan is playing ‘double game’ : Iranian State Media

Iranian state media’s slams Pakistan and Asim Munir

(A double game is when a person or country deceives two opposing parties by pretending to support them at the same time in order to achieve their own interests)

Tehran (Iran) – Iran has called Pakistan’s army chief Asim Munir “tilted towards USA”. This is the first time that Iranian State media has questioned Pakistan’s impartiality. It is being reported in Iranian State media that Pakistan is playing a ‘double game’ and is only pretending to be impartial, while in reality, it is tilted towards USA. It has also been alleged that Asim Munir is pretending to have personal relations with Iranian leaders, but in reality, he is working for America.

Iranian State media has harshly criticized Asim Munir for not discussing the second round in Islamabad. Asim Munir visited Tehran last week, but Iranian representatives have categorically refused to come to Islamabad. According to analysts on Iranian State channels, General Asim Munir was personally tasked with delivering Iran’s official draft to the US; but there has been no response from Munir since then.

Iranian media alleges that Pakistan has deliberately ignored Iran’s 10-point plan, which was previously approved by the US President. Instead, Pakistan is aggressively presenting 15-16 new US demands to Iran.

Not an impartial mediator, but tilted towards USA

Iranian analysts said on national television that Pakistan is pushing USA’s priorities and conditions. It is working to weaken Iran’s regional influence in the name of diplomacy rather than acting as an impartial mediator. Notably, Turkey and Saudi Arabia want Iran to be weakened; Saudi Arabia had even put a lot of pressure on Trump to attack Iran. On the day Asim Munir went to Tehran, ‘Press TV’ wrote that ‘Pakistan’s army chief Asim Munir has come to Tehran with a message from the USA.’

Pakistan has created a picture of Iran committing a crime by not attending the talks in Islamabad. Pakistan was deliberately trying to show that Iran was confused and was inflating things when there was no progress, so as to create a wrong perception about Iran. Pakistan showed fake reports and tried to create an artificial diplomatic situation to defame Iran.

Editorial Perspective

  • Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar had already said that Pakistan is brokering the Iran-US war, and now Iran has realized this and is expressing it openly. It should not be surprising if Iran launches missiles at Pakistan as well due to the deception.
  • Iran is saying this, while on the other hand, the US intelligence agency is saying that 'Pakistan is a secret friend of Iran and is cheating the US'. Seems they both have realized what Pakistan is.
