U.S. extends ceasefire period

Washington (USA) – U.S. President Donald Trump has announced an extension of the ceasefire period in the ongoing conflict with Iran. The announcement came just as the earlier ceasefire was set to expire on April 22nd.
Trump stated that the Iranian government is in a severely weakened position. He also mentioned that the decision to refrain from launching an attack on Iran was taken following requests from Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The United States has decided not to initiate military action unless Iranian leaders and representatives come forward with concrete proposals during negotiations.
“Trump’s decision is merely a delay tactic for future attack!” – Iran
On the other hand, Mahdi Mohammadi, senior advisor to the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, rejected the extension of the ceasefire. He stated that the extension holds no value for Iran and asserted that “those who are losing should not dictate terms.”
He further added that the ongoing naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz is no different from a military assault and could invite retaliation. According to him, Trump’s decision is merely a strategy to buy time for a future attack, and that the time has now come for Iran to take the initiative.
Firing in the Strait of Hormuz shortly after Trump’s announcement!
Within hours of Trump’s announcement, an incident of firing was reported in the Strait of Hormuz. At around 7:55 a.m., Iranian forces allegedly opened fire on a vessel in the region.
The firing reportedly targeted a container ship, and no prior warning was issued. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties.
Daily loss of ₹4,100 Crore to Iran!
Due to the ongoing conflict, Iran is reportedly facing daily losses amounting to approximately ₹4,100 crore. These losses stem from disruptions in fuel exports and trade through the Strait of Hormuz.
Despite these economic setbacks, Iran has not yet taken a positive step toward peace negotiations with the United States.
Why is Iran hesitant about talks?
Iran’s current diplomatic stance is significantly influenced by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). This powerful military body strongly opposes yielding to U.S. demands.
The United States has imposed strict conditions, including restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program and demands to surrender capabilities related to nuclear weapons development; terms that Iran finds unacceptable.
Iran appears to believe that controlling the Strait of Hormuz could strengthen its position and give it leverage in negotiations with the United States.
