Nagpur, Maharashtra – It was seemingly evident that social and educational activities were being carried out through ‘Universal Multipurpose Society’ and ‘FIKR’ organisations. However, preliminary investigations have revealed that these organisations have received huge funds in the name of ‘zakat’ from the US and Europe. The police are probing  whether these funds were used for religious conversions. Cases are registered against, Head of the organisation Riyaz Shaikh regarding pressurising women into observing Islam and his misbehaviour with them. Qazi is arrested in this case.

A thorough investigation is underway into the registration of the organization with the  Charity Commissioner, financial audit, and utilization of funds.

Advocate Salman Ahmed, who is on the board of directors of the institute, denied all the allegations and said that the complaint was made out of a vengeance after disciplinary action. “It was the women only who had violated the rules of the organisation; That’s why a notice was issued to them,” he said.
