Trump calls PM Modi; holds 40-minute discussion on the situation in the Gulf region

New Delhi – US President Donald Trump spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone to discuss the situation in the Gulf region. The discussion also included the important issue of ensuring safe passage for ships through the Strait of Hormuz. This is the second time Trump has spoken with Modi since the conflict began.

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor shared details about the conversation. He said that India and the United States are expected to soon sign major agreements in the energy sector and other areas. During the approximately 40-minute phone call, Trump briefed Modi on the situation in the Gulf region. He added that they also discussed the situation in the Gulf and emphasized the importance of reopening and securing the Strait of Hormuz.
