Opposing the stand of the Pakistan Government, Azhar Abbas, Managing Director of Geo News, stated that reviewing and presenting the work and contributions of a great artist upon their demise is a standard and established journalistic practice. Like knowledge, art too is a shared heritage of humanity and should not be confined within boundaries. Art and artists should not become victims during times of war and conflict.
