Baghpat (Uttar Pradesh) – A 30-year-old Muslim woman named Hina alias Mubbasreen from Delhi allegedly trapped a Hindu police constable in a romantic relationship. Later, the accused woman filed a rape complaint against the victim and allegedly forced him to convert to Islam by threatening him. She also extorted ₹17 lakh from him. The Baghpat Police in Uttar Pradesh have arrested the accused woman from Delhi.

1.   In his complaint, 35-year-old police constable Shrikant, posted in Baghpat district, stated that he came into contact with Hina in Delhi when he had been transferred to Ghaziabad. Taking advantage of the fact that Shrikant’s wife had passed away, Hina allegedly trapped him in a romantic relationship.

2.   Later, a dispute arose between them over the issue of conversion to Islam. Following this, Hina filed a rape complaint against Shrikant in Delhi, due to which he was arrested and had to undergo imprisonment. After being released, Shrikant contacted Hina, who told him that if he converted to Islam, she would testify in his favour and leave her husband to marry him.

3.   Acting on her assurances, the police constable converted; however, the accused woman and her associates allegedly continued to deceive him by giving various excuses. She did not withdraw the case and continued to threaten him, extorting ₹17 lakh from him.

4.   Finally, Shrikant filed a complaint against the woman in Baghpat. The Baghpat Police registered a case under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion Act and arrested the accused woman from Delhi.

Editorial Perspective

  • If Hindu police personnel themselves fall prey to such “love jihad” traps, how will they prevent such incidents in society?
  • Not only Muslim men, but women too are allegedly engaging in such acts and even reaching the extent of trapping Hindu police personnel. Does this not indicate a lack of fear of law?
