Washington (USA) – Renowned American economist Steve Hanke has praised India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. He stated that the Indian Foreign Minister prioritises strategic thinking over confusion and chaos.
1. Steve Hanke shared an image on ‘X’, in which he appreciated Dr S Jaishankar’s foreign policy and explained the thinking behind it. One side of the image depicts a world troubled by war, economic sanctions, and uncertainty, where leaders of various countries appear entangled. On the other side, Dr S Jaishankar is portrayed as a visionary leader.
2. Dr S Jaishankar is shown climbing a staircase marked with steps such as ‘Diversify’, ‘De-risk’, and ‘Hedge’. Through this image, an attempt has been made to convey that instead of getting entangled in global chaos, India is focusing on a long-term strategic approach. These steps indicate that India is choosing its own path rather than getting trapped in global conflicts.
3. These concepts imply that India should not remain entirely dependent on any one country or bloc. By maintaining balance in international relations, India is keeping multiple options open so that if one path is blocked, another remains available. Keeping supply chain risks in mind, India is also trying to reduce dependency to ensure that global crises do not severely impact its economy.
