Mumbai — Criticising participation in Hindu festivals and religious events has now become a “fashion” (trend). The criticism directed at me is also part of the same anti-Hindu narrative; however, without being affected by such criticism, I will continue to fulfil my commitment towards the voters and my responsibility as a public representative, said Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha. He was responding to the political criticism over his demand to the Food and Civil Supplies Department that “each Jain temple should be provided with 5 cylinders.”
Mangal Prabhat Lodha said, “In my Assembly constituency, various religious events such as Shri Ram Navami, Sai Bhandara, and programmes of the Jain community are organised. For such large events, an additional supply of gas is required. Special efforts have to be made for this. When the organisers of these events approached me for assistance, it became my duty to make efforts for them. On April 2, there is Hanuman Jayanti, and on April 14, there is Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti. Special efforts will also be required for programmes organised on these occasions. As a member of the Legislative Assembly, this is my responsibility. There is no shortage of gas in the state or the country. The Central Government, the Maharashtra Government, and the Food Supply Department are functioning efficiently. For additional supply required on special occasions, public representatives must take initiative. Therefore, attempts to create unnecessary social discord or controversy over such issues should be stopped.”
