Kerosene will be available at two petrol pumps in a district

New Delhi – The Union Government has decided to make available kerosene at select petrol pumps besides ration shops. The Government oil companies will be able to distribute kerosene from specific petrol pumps. The State Government will select maximum two petrol pumps in every district where this facility will be made available. These petrol pumps will be able to stock maximum 5000 litrs kerosene. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has relaxed the licensing and safety norms for sixty days to facilitate the distribution.
The Government’s decision is due to the conflict between America-Israel and Iran. The ongoing war in central Asia has led to shortage of gas, petrol-diesel in India. Kerosene will be used only for cooking and for lamps used as an alternative to electricity. It will be necessary to follow guiding principles about all security rules and procedures. A detailed record will have to be maintained of the stock of kerosene, supply and distribution. The Government administration and the relative system may check the records at any time.
