Attacks on Iran’s energy facilities continue despite Trump’s order to halt attacks for 5 days

New Delhi – The attacks continued on the 25th day of US-Israel-Iran war. Trump had earlier warned Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours. Later he announced a 5-day pause in attacks on Iran’s energy facilities. Despite his announcement, Israel continued attacks on March 24th. A gas plant and a gas control centre in the city of Isfahan in Iran were targeted. A power plant and its gas pipeline in the city of Khorramshahr were also attacked.

On the other hand, Israel continues to attack the bases of the pro-Iranian terrorist organization Hezbollah in Lebanon. Hezbollah attacked 5 Israeli sites with missiles and drones.

The war could have ended in a week; but continued due to Israel : Iran

Mohsen Rezaee, a senior military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah AliKhamenei, said the war could have ended within a week, but Israel kept it going. He said the US was ready for a ceasefire and was moving towards ending the conflict. After the 15th day of the war, even the US had realised that there was no way to win the conflict, but Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu insisted on continuing the offensive, which prolonged the war.

Trump blames Defense Secretary Hegseth for Iran attack

US President Donald Trump said his Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, was the first to support military action against Iran. Hegseth had said that it was essential to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and that action must be taken. He said that the US goal is to destroy Iran’s missiles, drones and naval power. However, Trump said that Hegseth did not clarify when this war would end.

Trump acknowledged that Vice President J.D. Vance was not entirely happy with the decision to invade; but he did not openly oppose it. Some officials supported the war, while others opposed it. One senior official resigned.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf may negotiate with the US

Trump has said, ‘I am talking to a key Iranian leader for a ceasefire.’ According to media reports, this key leader may be Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of the Iranian parliament. Ghalibaf has said that there have been no talks with the US yet. He criticized Trump’s policies.

Ghalibaf has run for president several times but has never won. He was on 3rd position in the 2024 election, which was won by Masoud Pezeshkian.

Trump cannot be trusted as he is a liar : Iran

Ali Nikzad, the deputy speaker of Iran’s parliament, said that the country should take a tough stance against the US and not negotiate with Trump. If he is telling the truth, he should clarify with whom he negotiated. Iran stands firmly behind its own army. Iran should not negotiate under pressure. The US had previously attacked Iran twice in June 2025 and February 2025 while negotiations were ongoing. He emphasized that it is difficult to trust US in such a situation and Iran should remain vigilant.

Pakistan tries to mediate between the US and Iran

Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey are jointly trying to mediate between Iran and the US. According to a report in the Pakistani newspaper ‘Dawn’, Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir spoke with US President Donald Trump, while Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif held talks with Iranian President Masoud Pesheshkian. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are also reportedly playing a role in this process.

Dialogue has been suggested to resolve the issue of the Strait of Hormuz : Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed the Lok Sabha on March 23rd and the Rajya Sabha on March 24th about the impact of the Gulf war on India. He said that this crisis is affecting our trade routes. It is affecting the supply of essential goods like gas and oil. We have discussed the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Attacks on merchant ships are unacceptable. India has suggested a path of dialogue to resolve this problem. Putting anyone’s life at risk is not in the interest of humanity.
