Mumbai – On the evening of 20th March, 2 Hindu girls were standing in a queue for a rickshaw outside Malad (East) railway station. When 2 Muslim women broke the queue and sat in a rickshaw, when asked about this by the girls, they swore at them. They stopped 2 Hindu girls and their friend, travelling in another rickshaw at Laxman Nagar at 8 pm and also called 20 to 25 Muslim youths from Islampura. All of them dragged the three Hindus out of the rickshaw and thrashed them. (Muslim women called for their mob, showing how organised they are! Hindus should take a cue from this! – Editor). Then they also misbehaved with Hindu girls. The police have arrested five Muslims — Anjum, Fatima Akbar, Idris Surti, Sahil and Imtiaz — and registered a case against 12 people. After this incident, some Hindus are scared, while some are enraged. After the incident, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam visited the police station and condemned it. “This incident highlights the issue of women’s safety in the entire city of Mumbai. Insecurity is increasing in areas like Islampura, Pathanwadi and Kurar. Police action sees frequent delays. A similar incident had happened in this area last year,” he said.
