Key Points Presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi
1. Since the onset of the war, all necessary assistance has been extended to every Indian in the affected country. Discussions have been held with several leaders in the Middle East, all of whom have assured the safety of Indian nationals. During this period, some individuals have lost their lives while others have been injured. In these difficult circumstances, the affected families are being provided with the required support.
2. Since the outbreak of the war, more than 375,000 Indian nationals have been safely repatriated to India. From Iran alone, around 1,000 Indians have returned safely so far, including over 700 students from the medical field. This reflects that the government is sensitive, vigilant, and fully committed to providing all necessary assistance.
3. The government is taking measures to ensure that the supply of petrol, diesel, and gas remains uninterrupted due to the war, and that citizens do not face inconvenience. India imports nearly 60 percent of its LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) requirements. In view of the prevailing uncertainty, the government has prioritized domestic LPG consumption. Efforts are also underway to increase domestic LPG production, while steps are being taken to maintain a steady supply of petrol and diesel.
Adoption of Ethanol as an Alternative Energy Source to Petrol, Diesel, and Gas !
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that unprecedented work has been done in ethanol production in the country over the past 10 to 12 years. As a result, oil imports have been reduced by approximately 45 million barrels annually. This has also benefited railway electrification efforts; otherwise, nearly 1.8 billion litres of additional diesel would have been required each year. The government has placed strong emphasis on electric mobility. With the scale of work being undertaken in alternative fuels, India’s future is expected to become more secure.
