(‘Mullah’ refers to a scholar of Sharia and Islamic principles)

Bhagyanagar (Telangana) – Ahead of Eid, a controversial video of cleric Syed Ayub from the city has gone viral. In the video, he appeals to Muslims to offer Namaz on public roads. Syed Ayub, who claims to be the organizer of a voluntary organization called “Hyderabad Youth Courage,” has around 2 million followers on his Instagram account.
1. In the video, Ayub states that his appeal to offer Namaz on roads is not limited to Muslims in Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh), but is directed at Muslims across the entire country.
2. He also challenged administrative authorities who had warned against offering Namaz on roads. In the video, he says that if anyone believes they can stop Muslims from offering Namaz on roads, they should try. Muslims, he claims, are not afraid of legal cases or imprisonment.
3. Ayub used derogatory language against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, alleging that the Yogi government is imposing unnecessary restrictions on Muslims.
4. In Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, police officeZr Kuldeep Kumar had convened a “Peace Committee” meeting and made it clear that permission would not be granted for offering Namaz on public roads. He also warned that strict action would be taken against those found offering Namaz outside mosques on public roads.
Editorial PerspectiveSuch individuals are effectively anti-national elements who challenge the law and order of the country. Cases of sedition should be registered against them and they should be imprisoned. |
