Possibility of deployment of nearly 2,000 central forces companies for the West Bengal elections!

Nearly 3 times more personnel to handle security compared to the previous elections!

New Delhi – Assembly elections in West Bengal are scheduled to be held next month in two phases. To ensure robust security throughout the process, the largest-ever deployment of central paramilitary forces is expected.

While around 750 companies were deployed during the 2021 elections, nearly 3 times that number — approximately 2,000 companies — are likely to be stationed this time. According to a senior official of the Election Commission, such a large-scale deployment of central forces is intended to ensure peaceful voting and to prevent any untoward incidents during the election period.

Even before the commencement of polling, the central government has already dispatched approximately 480 companies of central forces to West Bengal.

In addition to force deployment, the Election Commission is also focusing particularly on transparency in the electoral process. Complete webcasting (live internet streaming) of all polling stations across the state will be carried out, enabling officials to monitor proceedings in real time. This measure is expected to help maintain fairness in the election process and strengthen voter confidence.

Editorial Perspective

This indicates the severe deterioration of law and order in a state governed by the Trinamool Congress. Large-scale violence had occurred during the previous elections. The Trinamool Congress has allegedly provided protection to extremists, jihadi elements, and anti-social groups. Therefore, to ensure peaceful polling, action must first be taken against disruptive elements within the Trinamool Congress itself!
