Action taken by Ahmedabad Crime Branch

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) – The Ahmedabad (Karnavati) Crime Branch and Cyber Crime Cell have apprehended the main suspect responsible for sending a series of hoax bomb threat emails to several schools, courts and government offices across the country. The suspect, Saurabh Biswas, was arrested from Bengal.
On 02.03.2026, threatening emails were sent to institutions in Delhi, including Army Public School, Salwan Public School and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, as well as branches of banks such as Axis Bank and State Bank of India. On the same day, similar emails were also sent to institutions in Goa and Bhopal. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhopal, a university, the General Post Office (GPO) and the regional Passport Office were among those that received the emails. Goa Passport Bhavan also received such an email, following which the building was evacuated. Similar threatening emails were also sent to other States such as Telangana and Punjab.
1. The Ahmedabad Special Crime Investigation Squad launched a special operation and arrested Saurabh Biswas from Bengal.
2. He is accused of sending threatening emails and creating an atmosphere of fear and panic. The operation was conducted under the leadership of Police Commissioner G S Malik and Joint Commissioner Sharad Singhal.
3. The accused has been brought to Ahmedabad, and cyber experts are carrying out further investigation.
