Attack on Police and Cow Protectors During Cow Slaughter Investigation in Surat (Gujarat)

  • 1 police officer and 1 cow protector seriously injured

  • 22 Muslims arrested by police

Surat (Gujarat) – A police team and cow protectors who had gone to investigate information about alleged cow slaughter in Hathoda village of Surat district were attacked by a group of Muslims. In the incident, one police personnel and one cow protector were seriously injured. The incident occurred on 25 February.

Following the attack, the police carried out a major operation in the village and arrested 22 Muslims. In this case, the police have registered the complaint themselves and the investigation is ongoing.

During the search operation, a few individuals arrived at the spot on two motorcycles and began arguing with the police. The argument escalated, leading to an attack on the police team and the cow protectors. At that time, more than 50 Muslims had gathered there, reportedly carrying weapons such as swords and iron pipes.

The report also raises a question in the minds of Hindus as to how incidents of cow slaughter and such attacks can occur in Gujarat despite the BJP being in power in the state for over two decades.
