Tehran (Iran) – On 28 February at 11.18 a.m. (Indian time), The United States and Israel jointly launched rocket and missile attacks on more than 30 locations across Iran, including its capital, Tehran. Notably, the attack targeted the office and residence of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. As he was not present at the time, he escaped unharmed. Following the attack, he was shifted to a secure location. After these strikes, both Iran and Israel restricted their airspace. Israel named the operation ‘Shield of Judah’, meaning ‘Jews’ Shield’. The United States named its attack on Iran ‘Operation Epic Fury’ (extremely intense and fierce anger).
In the afternoon, Iran retaliated by firing more than 400 missiles at Israel. As a result, Israeli citizens took shelter in bunkers. Iran also targeted US military bases in seven countries, including Israel. Israel claimed that its ‘Iron Dome’ air defence system destroyed the incoming missiles mid-air. The number of casualties and the extent of financial losses on both sides are not yet clear.

For several days, the United States had been warning Iran of possible military action. US President Donald Trump repeatedly cautioned that unless Iran halted its nuclear weapons programme, it would face attack. Iran rejected the demand and declared its readiness for confrontation. The world had been waiting to see when the United States would strike, and ultimately the US and Israel carried out the attack. Even before this, the US Navy and American military bases in the Middle East had prepared for action. A day earlier, the United States had advised its citizens to leave Israel immediately.

- The US action aims to end Iran’s nuclear programme ! – Trump
After the attack, US President Donald Trump stated that large-scale and continuous US military operations were underway in Iran. He said the objective was to protect America and its people from threats. The US military is attempting to destroy Iran’s missile capabilities and end its nuclear programme. Even after an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025, Iran has continued efforts to advance its nuclear programme. Iran has not taken any opportunity to abandon it; therefore, there is no need to wait further. Some US soldiers may lose their lives in these operations; however, this step is being taken for future security. Iran’s actions pose a threat to the United States, its overseas bases and its allied nations. The Iranian regime has been working against the United States for many years, and its activities have targeted people in America and other countries.
The attacks will lead to regime change in Iran ! – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

We will continue attacking US bases ! – Iran
After the attacks by the United States and Israel, Iran launched strikes on US bases in Gulf countries. Iran declared that it would continue attacking American bases. In this war, none of its officials have been killed. Retaliation will continue until the enemy is defeated.
Attempt by the United States to bring about regime change !
Apart from stopping Iran’s nuclear programme, the objective of the United States and Israel behind these attacks is also regime change. In recent weeks, protests have been taking place in Iran against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and against the Islamic system. It is being said that the United States seeks such a change. Therefore, the end of this war could result in the downfall of Khamenei.
Responsibility to bring change in the country lies with the people ! – Iran’s exiled Crown Prince
Iran’s exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi stated that the humanitarian assistance promised by the US President to the Iranian people is now being fulfilled. Trump’s target is not the Iranian people but Iran’s Islamic regime. The final victory will belong to the Iranian people. The responsibility to bring change in the country lies with the people. Citizens should remain alert and prepared. At the appropriate time, he will call upon the people to take to the streets.
