Darbhanga (Bihar) – A new case of ‘Love Jihad’ has come to light in Darbhanga district. In the jurisdiction of Kamtaul Police Station, a minor Hindu girl was allegedly abducted and converted to Islam by a history-sheeter identified as Mohammad Sitara Nadaf. The accused is currently absconding. As he failed to surrender within the stipulated time, the police have taken possession of his house and seized his belongings.

The victim’s family has termed the incident a case of ‘Love Jihad’. According to them, Mohammad Nadaf is already married and the father of two children. They also alleged that he had previously threatened the minor girl.

In this case, an FIR has been registered against five individuals, including Mohammad Chaman, Mohammad Anwar, Mohammad Jamhir Nadaf and Jamila Khatun. At present, all the accused are absconding. Deputy Superintendent of Police Shubhendra Kumar Suman stated that continuous raids are being conducted to apprehend them.

Incidents of ‘Love Jihad’ continue to surface almost daily from different parts of the country. To curb such cases, a stringent nationwide law against ‘Love Jihad’ must be enacted. Books that allegedly propagate such teachings should be banned, a nationwide investigation must be conducted to expose those behind such conspiracies, and the Government should make efforts to ensure the harshest punishment for those found guilty.
