Kerala Govt’s educational institutions won’t have religious names henceforth : Pinarayi Vijayan Govt decision

Step taken to promote secularism

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – The Kerala Government has decided that Government schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions that will be established in the State henceforth, will no longer be named on the basis of religion. This information was given in an official statement issued after a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

According to Government sources, the objective behind this decision is to ensure that ‘Government educational institutions remain secular’ and ‘reflect the values of equality and inclusiveness enshrined in the Constitution’. This decision will only apply to institutions to be established in the future. There will be no impact on the names of already existing Government schools, colleges or universities.

Justice J.B. Koshy Commission report approved

The State cabinet has approved in principle the report of the Justice J.B. Koshi Commission and decided to officially release it. The commission was appointed to study issues related to education, economic backwardness and welfare of the Christian minority in Kerala. (Have the so-called communist rulers of Kerala, who only care about the welfare of Christians, ever thought about the welfare of other communities ? – Editor).

Editorial Perspective

Hindu children are being converted to Christianity either directly or ideologically in Christian convent schools. Many such incidents have been coming to light from everywhere. If Vijayan really endorses secularism, why does his communist Government not take action against such convent schools ?
