Drone attack on Moscow: Russia claims to have shot down 11 drones

Moscow (Russia) – An attempted drone attack on Moscow on the night of 22 February was foiled by Russian air defence systems. Russia claimed that its air defence forces shot down 11 Ukrainian drones within an hour.

Due to security concerns, temporary air traffic restrictions were imposed at all four international airports of the Russian capital — Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Zhukovsky and Sheremetyevo. Flight operations were suspended until further notice.

As the war between Russia and Ukraine approaches its fourth year, Russia has repeatedly alleged that Ukrainian drones target several of its regions, including Moscow. In response, Russia has also carried out repeated missile and drone strikes on Ukraine.
