Death penalty for husband and wife who made and sold child pornographic videos online

Banda (Uttar Pradesh) – A special POCSO court has sentenced Ram Bhavan (aged 48) and his wife Durgavati (aged 45) to death for sexually exploiting children and circulating pornographic material related to them online. Ram Bhavan is a suspended junior engineer in the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department. The CBI had alleged that Ram Bhavan sexually exploited children in Banda, Chitrakoot and nearby areas for the last decade and targeted at least 50 minors.

He circulated 34 videos and 678 photographs of the act on social media and also sold them to pornographic websites. During the search at his residence, cash, a laptop, a web camera, pen drive and memory cards along with electronic storage devices and other criminal material were seized. The CBI had said that an examination of the accused’s email accounts revealed that he was in regular contact with several individuals, including Indian and foreign nationals, for the distribution of child sexual abuse material.
