After Muntarin marries Ajay, couple faces threat to life from the woman’s family !

  • Incident in Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh)

  • Demand for protection made to the Senior Superintendent of Police

Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) – A Muslim woman named Muntarin from the district eloped with a Hindu youth named Ajay and married him. After solemnising the marriage as per Hindu rituals, the newly married couple has sought police protection. Muntarin has been renamed Muskan. After the marriage, Muskan drank Gangajal and ended her Ramzan ‘roza’ (fast).

Muntarin, a resident of Sanai village in Bilari tehsil of Moradabad district, had been in a long-standing relationship with Ajay, who lives nearby. The two wished to marry; however, since Ajay is a Hindu, Muntarin’s family opposed the relationship and imposed several restrictions on her.

On Friday, 13 February, while observing the Ramzan fast, Muntarin left with Ajay and the two were married in a temple according to Hindu traditions. After adopting the name Muskan, she began living with Ajay. Citing threats to their lives, the couple has approached
Senior Superintendent of Police Satpal Antil in Moradabad seeking protection. Muntarin is 25 years old.

Ajay stated that on one occasion, her family members had seen the two together and subsequently lodged a complaint against him. As a result, he had to undergo seven months of imprisonment. He has since been released, and the case remains pending before the court.

Editorial Perspective

Through love jihad, the lives of Hindu girls are ruined. On the other hand, if a Hindu youth marries a Muslim girl, the young man’s life itself comes under threat. While taking action against those responsible for such incidents, only if their voting and other democratic rights granted by democracy are withdrawn — along with imposing a 100 per cent ban on those who instigate such wrongful acts — will such people be forced to mend their ways.
